Hatha Yoga
“When the five senses and the mind are still, and the reasoning
intellect rests in silence, then begins the highest path.
This calm steadiness of the senses is called yoga.
Then one should become watchful, because yoga comes and goes.”
Kaṭha Upaniṣad (VI).
The objective of the Yoga classes is to transport both mind and body into a state of greater peace and balance, thus opening the path to a more conscientious lifestyle in order to more effectively face the day to day challenges and opportunities. It is while we are on the mat that we are able to better sense when we need to be strong, flexible, persistent, introspective, more active or even when we need to change the course of things, and in this way create the time and space for each one of us to reconnect with ones emotions and thoughts on a deeper level.
The basic structure of Hatha Yoga practice includes:
-
Initial centering
-
Mantras
-
Asana (physical postures)
-
Yoga nidra (relaxation)
-
Pranayama (breathing exercises)
-
Meditation
The basis of the teachings is the traditional Hatha Yoga with its deep ties to Vedanta. Iyengar Yoga techniques are also used as well as some of the Ashtanga and Vinyasa principles, depending on the specific characteristics of each group or individual.
The duration of each session is 1:30min.
